Eng. Essam Hanafi, Advisor to the Chairman of EGYPTAIR MAINTENANCE & ENGINEERING, was elected to the IATP Board of Directors at the 118th Meeting held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. EGME delegation took part in the event, which is the most important global platform that brings together airlines, aircraft maintenance companies, aircraft manufacturers and spare parts suppliers, held twice a year. The IATP aims to facilitate the spare parts pool and coordination between airlines and aircraft maintenance companies to provide technical service in various airports around the world to achieve operation flow.
Eng. Essam Hanafi was the Vice Chairman of the Organization during the period from 2009 to 2012 as the first Egyptian to assume this post since the establishment of the organization, and was re-elected unanimously for a second term for the same position from 2013 to 2017.
The International Airlines Technical Pool (IATP) is a convention of airlines made up of over 100 member airlines. In the spirit of co-operation, members of the aviation industry gather twice yearly to discuss sharing of resources, reducing costs, while improving operating efficiency. Under its auspices, members share aircraft recovery kits, aircraft parts and tooling, ground handling equipment and manpower/facilities.
