EgyptAir M& E Company approved as international aircraft maintenance centre

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Audit completed successfully (Phase II) where the company obtained the (EASA) approval in January 2006 (Phase I) in Line Maintenance activities for the A/C types Airbus (A319, A320, A321, A330, A340)
Completing the successful march of EgyptAir M& E Company, which managed to obtain the third phase of EASA certificate that started its first and second phases in Feb. 2006, the activities of the company were approved by EASA during the last two years. Therefore, EgyptAir M& E Company became one of the biggest maintenance centres in the Middle East that offers aircraft and compound devices maintenance services for different clients from international, European and Arab airlines.
 
The first phase started in Feb. 2006 and included:
  • Line maintenance for Airbus A319, A320, A321, A330 and A340 planes .
  • Wheel and brake maintenance for all these types.
  • Maintaining battery units of these types.
  • Conducting specialized services in non-destructive test.

The second phase was completed in Sept. 2006 and included:

  • Line and base maintenance for Airbus A319, A320, A321, A330 and A340 planes.
  • Line maintenance for B777, B737 NG, B737 Classic and Airbus A300-600 planes.
  • Approving all overhaul workshops (units and devices overhaul workshops.)
  • Approving seven internal and external stations (Hurghada – Sharm El Sheikh –
    Luxor – Burj Al Arab, Al Dammam, and Jeddah).

The third phase ended in September 2007 and included:

  • Beside the above mentioned, the base maintenance of B777, B737 NG, and B737 Classic was approved at 7000 hanger.
  • Adding the latest type (Embraer 170) to the base and line maintenance.
So, EgyptAir M&E Company became one of the biggest companies that were approved by EASA.
Noteworthy, during the period from the second and third phases (from Sept. 2006 to Sept 2007) the European Aviation Safety Agency conducted a five-day evaluation for the company in April 2007 and comprised all the activities of the company. The report submitted by the inspection committee did not include any remarks yet it indicated an improvement in the company’s performance and level. This is considered the best indication that the company not only reached the approval level but also an improvement and stability in its performance.
 
Meanwhile, the company is witnessing a lot of contracts which are signed by customers whose number amounted to 40 international customers. They sign these contracts to make maintenance services at Egyptian airports as well as external airports.
Noteworthy, the company’s hangers are totally reserved during 2008. Moreover, a base maintenance contracts were signed by:
  • Thomas Cook: For making 6C-Check to three Airbus A320 planes in the period from 10/12/2007 to 11/3/2008.
  • Karthago Airlines: For making 6C-Check to three B737-300 planes in the period from 22/10 to 5/12/2007.
  • Spanish LTE: For making 3C-Check to two A320 planes in the period from 23/10 to 14/11/2007.
  • C-Check is being conducted for Libavia’s cargo plane A300-C4 type in the period from 11/8/2007 to 20/9/2007
  • SRT: For making 6C-Check for four B737-300 planes starting from 22/2/2008.
  • French Air Austral: For making 6C-Check to B737-400 plane in the period from 22/1/2008 to 14/2/2008
  • Lotus Company: For making a C-Check to two A320 planes in the period from 16/2/2007 till 29/8/2008

 

In addition to this, the company has signed a number of long-term agreements with Air Cairo, Koral Blue, Libya Airlines, Jordan Aviation and Alexandria Airlines,.
Meanwhile, the company’s technical experts are working in Pakistan for Pakistani Air Blue and SRT in Zurig and Air Madgashkar in Madgashkar.

Also, EgyptAir M& E Company began to plan and prepare to approve new overhaul workshops by the end of 2007 to be one of the biggest overhaul centers in the Middle East.
